Lisa Hanasono, Ph.D., is the NCFDD’s Academic Director of Training and Content, as well as an NCFDD Certified Workshop Facilitator and Faculty Success Program Coach. She is a professor in the School of Media and Communication and an affiliated faculty member of the American Culture Studies and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program at Bowling Green State University (BGSU). Her research focuses on faculty development, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Prior to joining the NCFDD, she dedicated over 10 years to developing and delivering professional development workshops in higher education. She has published numerous scholarly journal articles and book chapters, and she is a Co-PI of a $2 million grant that focuses on academic mentoring and leadership. In addition to her work with the NCFDD and BGSU, Lisa enjoys spending quality time with her partner and kids, traveling, and horseback riding.
Rachel McLaren, PhD, is a professor at the University of Iowa in the Department of Communication Studies. Her social-scientific research focuses on how people talk about and make sense of significant experiences in their relationships, including instances of conflict, transgressions, and hurt feelings. She participated in the Faculty Success Program in 2012, which transformed her connection to her work and writing, allowing her to feel less stressed and resulting in her earning tenure. In her downtime, Rachel enjoys impromptu dance parties with her husband and three children, cooking plant-based meals, teaching fitness classes, and traveling to the ocean as much as possible.
Maurice Stevens, PhD, is Associate Dean for Engagement in the College of Arts and Sciences and Professor in the Department of Comparative Studies at the Ohio State University. Maurice's research interests include the formation and representation of identity in and through visual culture and political performance, critical trauma theory, popular cultural performance, affect and embodiment, and American, ethnic, and gender studies. Their first book is titled Troubling Beginnings: Trans(per)forming African-American History and Identity. Maurice is a father to four wonderful people and has a passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Polarity, meditation, and engaged research and participatory leadership practices.
Elizabeth S. Parks M.A./Ph.D., (University of Washington, M.A. Gallaudet University) is a globally recognized scholar, educator, and leader whose career spans over 25 years in international nonprofit organizations, higher education, global research, and public engagement. Dr. Parks has taught nearly 100 courses across nine colleges and universities, influencing over 1,000 students with an inclusive, trauma-informed approach to teaching. Elizabeth currently holds the title of Dissertation in Practice Chair with the EdD in Interdisciplinary Leadership program at Creighton University, is affiliate faculty with Journalism & Media Communication at Colorado State University (CSU), and previously held a tenured associate professor role in Communication Studies at CSU and key leadership roles in Higher Education including Associate Dean at Colorado Mountain College and Assistant Director and Dialogue and Diversity Specialist at CSU’s Center for Public Deliberation. She is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Listening, a board member of the International Listening Association, and Director of Ethical Listening at the Global Listening Center. As Founder of Sage Consulting, LLC and a certified professional coach with the International Coaching Federation, Dr. Parks advises organizations and individuals on communication strategy, leadership development, and cultural competency.
